Will Bosworth

The School of Honk is an extremely cool band and one of the institutions that showcases the unique joys of the Somerville/Cambridge area. I’m in awe of how they manage to be a legitimately good band while also being extremely open to newcomers from all backgrounds. They play every weekend around town and are definitely worth a look.

One of my daughters started playing regularly when she was five. In addition to Honk’s “radical” position of letting anyone play in the band, I’ve also been struck by how they treat my kid like a person (not a “kid”). Of course folks still watch out for her, but its not patronizing. It looks like she’s as much a part of the fabric of the band as anyone else.
